[Article] f(x) to film new reality program Amazing f(x) in New Zealand

The special day-to-day lives of girl group f(x) will be revealed.

f(x) members Victoria, Amber, Luna, Sulli, and Krystal, who are in the middle of comeback preparations, left for New Zealand from Incheon International Airport on the 8th. They are headed for New Zealand in order to film their new reality program Amazing f(x).

According to a broadcast representative, Amazing f(x) is about the cultural experiences the f(x) members go through as they vacation in New Zealand. It is also planned that the day-to-day lives of the five members outside the stage will naturally be captured on camera.

Amazing f(x) is the third reality program for f(x), following cable channel Y-STAR’s Hello f(x) in 2010 and MBC every1’s f(x)’s Koala.

In particular, as many fans had been disappointed because Amber had been unable to participate at the time of f(x)’s Koala due to a leg injury, it appears that the anticipation of fans for Amazing f(x), the first reality program after a long period of time that all five members will film together, will be great.

The scheduling and timing for the broadcast of Amazing f(x) is being discussed for MBC and MBC every1.

Q: Is Gu Jaehee similar to Sulli we've known? Sulli: Gu Jaehee is not cute and lovely Sulli. but she has something similar to me in reality.  

Most of people consider me as a girl with lots of aegyo, but I'm a little blunt and have a little man-like side.

[Article] SXSW Music: Korean Pop With Its Own Special f(x)

Mystique does not thrive at South by Southwest. It is very rarely a festival where the polished pop star bestows a slick, remote performance on distant fans and then disappears back behind the veil of celebrity. The clubs where most gigs take place are too small and the stages are too low for that; audience members are close enough to see musicians eye to eye. They can probably run into them backstage, too, loading their own equipment into the van. Even at larger places, the stars don’t get to bring their custom-built stages, lights and sound systems; they play in the existing setups, like the big bumpy back yard of a barbecue place or a generic temporary stage in a warehouse or a vacant lot. Performers also experience the same Texas weather — summery even in March — that audiences do. It’s a kind of leveler; who are you without your gimmicks, and how do your songs really hold up?

But along came f(x), a five-woman group from South Korea — four of them under 21 — that is a female “idol band” from the artificial world of K-pop. On the model of American boy bands like ‘N Sync, idol bands are assembled, trained, choreographed and supplied with material by their management companies.

F(x) is reportedly one of the more daring idol bands; one of the five women’s costumes was a modified T-shirt from the horror-punk band the Misfits. They have song titles like “Hot Summer,” “Danger” and “Electric Shock,” which were all part of the group’s brief set, sung (in Korean, with English refrains) to prerecorded tracks that closely follow American and European electropop. The group didn’t have its lasers, but it did have video screens. The set was all catchiness and choreography, with lots of angular elbow and shoulder action, like Janet Jackson above the waist; hip motion, not so much. ”Hot Summer” included one move like wiping sweat off the girl’s forehead. The group was impeccable, twitching and twirling and hitting its marks with smiles while an audience full of Korean girls squealed and took photos. SXSW or not, this was pop, and no one wanted idols brought down to earth.

Watched the MAMA 2012 via live satellite in our local channel. And of course, my laptop and desktop computer are both open and live streaming the show. My niece when she walked in into my room noticed the three screens around me, and said." You are truly k-pop crazy!" while laughingly walked out again. I told her the computers are for screencaps. Am I that crazy?! lol! 

Well, first I will congratulate both as SHINee and f(x) for winning the BEST DANCE PERFORMANCE @MAMA 2012.

 Even the category award they won is the same!

Anyway, I did capture some moments of them, though separately.

Sulli here was watching and just staring intently at the stage while SHINee with Minho of course was performing Sherlock. Her gaze was awesome! She was like starstruck!

[Interview] VOGUE GIRL Magazine: Korea – F(x)’s SULLI & SHINEE’s MINHO for Korean Drama “To The Beautiful You”

SULLI + MINHO VOGUE GIRL INTERVIEW

Although drama adaptations from Japanese comics or manga have been done, notably three years ago via “Boys Over Flowers”, this production of Hisaya Nakajo’s “To the Beautiful” aims to raise the bar. Shinee‘s Choi Minho and f(x)’s Choi Sulli  will bring the characters ofHanakimi back to life.

The Korean series is the fourth television adaptation of the manga following the Taiwanese,  Japanese and its sequel Hanazakari no Kimitachi e .

Vogue Girl: After singing isn’t it difficult acting again?

Sulli: ”Truthfully I do feel burdened since I’m starting to act again after such a long time. But the things I used to do, like playing around with the staff everyday and conversing with the director, began to surface in my memory one by one as soon as the filming started. Without even my knowing, I must have missed that atmosphere of a filming set. Because it somehow feels like I’ve discovered myself these days, acting feels more comfortable now.”

Vogue Girl: What was it like when you received the offer for For You in Full Blossom? You must have fretted over having to cut your hair.

Sulli: ”There might be a misunderstanding if I speak like this, but as soon as I saw the original I thought that I absolutely must do it. I suddenly received the sensation that “there is no one to absorb this role other than myself.” I felt that I could do really, really well. I think I felt rueful for just one minute right before cutting my hair.”

Vogue Girl: Is the role of Goo Jaehee similar to the Sulli whom we’ve known?

Sulli: ”It likely won’t be the ‘cute and lovable Sulli.’ However, there are quite a few aspects that are similar to my real image. Most people think of me as a child with a lot of cuteness, but truthfully I’m a bit gruff and I have somewhat of a masculine side. I also tend not to express myself. It’s been difficult to bring out that part of me in f(x), so I think it worked out well that I can naturally show something close to my real image through this role.”

Vogue Girl: Did you reference the characters played by Yoon Eun Hye or Park Shin Hye?

Sulli: ”I referenced them in regards to outfits and hairstyles. I enjoyed watching both Coffee Prince and You are Beautiful, and truthfully even then I thought ‘The roles of Go Eunchan and Go Minam would suit me well.’ Haha.”

Vogue Girl: I’m aware that you will become the main character in a love triangle. Between Kang Taejoon’s brusque and manly style and Cha Eungyul’s kindhearted style, which does Sulli actually like?

Sulli: “Manliness is nice, but I still think that a sentimental style who looks after you well is good. I like guys who will talk to me first. Please reference this. Haha.”

Vogue Girl: Could you become reckless for love like Goo Jae Hee?

Sulli: “If it’s someone I really like I could do reckless things to no end, but I don’t know if I could turn the cogs of my brain like Jae Hee. I have no confidence in something like coming up with a perfect plan. I’m not very meticulous.”

Vogue Girl: If this drama becomes a hit, is there something you want to do?

Sulli: “Um, a shampoo CF! When you go to the store, there are pictures on the shampoos. But only really pretty stars are gathered there. Truthfully I was a bit jealous whenever I saw that.”

Vogue Girl: If you could become another member of f(x) for just a day, who would you choose?

Sulli: “I want to become Victoria unnie and try doing a split. And then try sleeping like that. And if my eyes become big like unnie’s, wouldn’t I be able to see more of the world than I do now? Ack, is that a bit nonsensical?”

Vogue Girl: Have you practiced the high jump a lot? Judging from your victory on Let’s Go! Dream Team you did well, at the level of an actual athlete.

Minho: “I began to practice about a month and a half before we went into active filming. I thought that it was easy up until the first week or two, but it was so different from what I did on Dream Team. High jumpers do a back flip and this is very difficult. High jumping is extremely hard even compared to other athletic events, so they say that even athletes avoid it.”

Vogue Girl: Kang Taejoon is a character which any woman would fall for, to what extent do you think you’re in sync with the character?

Minho: ”For now I’ll put it at about 50%. We share many similar aspects in terms of personality, but things like our family relationships and the attitude with which we treat others are different. I watched the Japanese drama and looked for the original work too, but I can’t say that we’re completely similar because he’s a character who is pure but still manly with outstanding looks. I’ll just say that I want to express him well and emulate the character.”

Vogue Girl: How will you show a different image from Oguri Shun, who took on the same role in the Japanese drama?

Minho: ”The method of expression is different according to each person who acts. I’minterpreting the character with a bit of a different feel from Oguri Shun. Rather than with words, please confirm this on August 15th through the broadcast! Haha.”

Vogue Girl: SHINee’s Minho and actor Minho, and the Minho who partakes in photoshoots like today. Among these, which is the most difficult role?

Minho: “Acting. I can just show myself when I sing and dance and take pictures, but when I act I have to naturally express someone other than myself so it’s difficult. And having to create a side which the drama’s viewers can empathize with is the most difficult.”

Vogue Girl: If one day you can have your pick of any production, what type of movie would you like to do?

Minho: “Action or a noir movie along Quentin Tarantino’s style. I want to try doing a movie that guys will like but that will probably be possible in the far future, not with my current image.”

Vogue Girl: Speaking of your image, are you seeking the image of an upright young man? I once saw you at a piercing shop, and you cut short the staff members who were encouraging you to get a piercing saying “I won’t.”

Minho: (very surprised) “Wow! I went just that once, but you saw that. Truthfully, I was curious. The members have gotten a lot of piercings too. I’m not trying to go for an upright image in particular, but for some reason I think that funky outfits and piercings won’t suit me. Once my stylist got hold of magnetic earrings which didn’t require pierced ears but when I looked in the mirror, as expected it looked strange. In addition, I lost them after not even an hour. So in conclusion, “upright young man” isn’t of my own will but something that can’t be helped. Haha.”
